Earning a J Award nod for Australian Album of the Year and debuting at #1 on the Australian charts, Ruby Fields’ Been Doin’ It For A Bit is a special record. And it deserves a special tour.

Joined by her backing band of best mates – guitarist Adam Newling, bassist Tas Wilson, and drummer Patrick Rogers – Ruby will be celebrating her debut album in style, taking in some of the nation’s most stunning theatres from February.

“We are incredibly excited to tour the album in the way we always imagined,” says Fields. “Hope to see you there!”

We’re used to the sight of Ruby and the boys lighting up pubs and clubs with their raucous guitars and cheeky banter, but we’re just as excited at hearing how tender numbers – like ‘Airport Cafe’ and the piano-led ‘Bottle’o’ – will land in a fancy theatre setting as we are how loud anthems will tear them apart!

Hailing from Cronulla, Ruby Fields way with relatable, brutally honest yet witty songwriting is special, and her yarns have only gotten better since uploading her first song to triple j Unearthed in 2017.

A doomed festival fling, her parents, odes to her band – it all gets the heartfelt Fields treatment on Been Doin’ It For A Bit, which was recorded between studios in New Zealand and Byron Bay with producer Chris Collins.

Featuring the singles ‘Song About A Boy’‘Pretty Grim’, and ‘R.E.G.O.’, the album is packed with detail and memorable lines that convey so much more than their seemingly banal settings initially appear. From kitchens to pubs, backyards to bottle-os, Ruby is capable of being hilarious and heartfelt all at once, having you crying into a frothie as much as laughing over one.
